OCEANIA: SMASHING PUMPKINS' NEW ALBUM ON SEPTEMBER 1 2011

Smashing Pumpkins have unveiled the tracklisting for their ninth studio album 'Oceania', which is set for formal release later this year.

The band's frontman Billy Corgan, wrote on Twitter.com/billy: "I'm assuming those that are Smashing Pumpkins fans in the crowd wouldn't mind me putting up a tentative tracklisting of the 'Oceania' album?" He then wrote the running order which you can see at the bottom of your screen.

The tracks have been released as part of the band's ongoing 'Teargarden By Kaleidyscope' project, which sees the band releasing new songs online in batches and then making them available for download.

Billy Corgan has indicated recently that though he feels the format of an album isn't particularly relevant, he believes the songs set to feature on 'Oceania' are "supposed to go together."

He said in a video on the band's Facebook page: "I still stand by my view that I don't think albums are particularly relevant at this time. That may change. But as far as making music, from a writing point of view, it's really going to focus me to put a group of songs together that are supposed to go together."

The tracklisting for 'Oceania' is as follows:

'O/'
'Pale Horse'
'Panopticon'
'The Chimera'
'Four Winds Chime'
'Glissandra'
'Inkless'
'My Love Is Winter'
'Special K'
'Pinwheels'
'Oceania'
'Violet Rays'
'Quasar'

THE NEW ALBUM OF THE KOOKS OUT ON 12th SEPT 2011: JUNK OF THE HEART

Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard has toldNME that the UK quartet are hard at work on their third album, and plan on an early 2011 release for junk of the heart. Recording in New York and London, the band brought in producer Jim Abbiss, who is also responsible for the extremely British works of Arctic Monkeys and Editors. Suffice it to say, this probably won’t be sounding like American folk-rock.

The tracklist:

"Junk of the heart (Happy)"
"How’d you like that"
"Rosie"
"Taking pictures Of you"
"Killing me"
"fuck the World off'
"Time above the earth"
"Runaway"
"Is it me"
"Petulia"
"Eskimo kiss"
"Mr. nice guy"

COFFEE AND CIGARETTES

I gave up coffee and cigarettes
I hate to say it hasn’t helped me yet
I thought my problems would just dissipate
And all my pain would be in yesterday
I thought that if I didn’t go and play
The sadness would get bored and go away
I thought that if I didn’t go astray
That all my pain would be in yesterday

I sold my guitar and my piano
I thought that it was these that kept me low
I thought if only I could try and change
That all my pain would be in yesterday

But I finally know what to do
I must quit, I must quit

TOKYO POLICE CLUB

TOKYO POLICE CLUB

Tokyo Police Club is a Canadian indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, consisting of singer and bassist Dave Monks (born January 21, 1987), keyboardist Graham Wright (born February 16, 1987), guitarist Josh Hook (born May 11, 1987),  and drummer Greg Alsop (born March 21, 1985).

Tokyo Police Club formed in 2005 while playing for fun in a basement after the four had disbanded from a previous group called Suburbia. The band started to gain attention and played some small shows throughout the Toronto area. Tokyo Police Club were asked to play in the city'sPop Montreal festival, and soon after they signed with Toronto label Paper Bag Records; Monks and Alsop dropped out of college to become professional musicians.
Since their formation the band has appeared in numerous festivals. In 2006 they appeared at Edgefest and the inaugural Osheaga Festival; however, could not play that year due to other conflicts. In 2007, they performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, the Glastonbury Festival, and the Reading and Leeds Festival. BLOC PARTY REUNITE FOR NEW ALBUM

After disappearing from our musical sights back in 2009, Bloc Party has announced they are recording new material together.
In the last two years, most of the band members have concentrated on solo projects. Kele Okereke released his solo album, The Boxer, while bassist Russell Lissack has been playing as a touring guitarist for Ash.
"Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff," Lissack recently told NME. "We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material."
Although drummer Matt Tong wrote on his Facebook account that the band will "most likely not" play any concerts in 2011, there are plans to make a new record this year.

BLANK DOGS - THE FIELDS

For almost two years, Blank Dogs, the anonymous one-man band credited to Mike Sniper, has been a some-wave punk machine, churning out cassette after CD-R after 7” without much rest. The recipe is rather simple: Toss a grimy old synthesizer, a guitar, and Steve Albini’s old Roland into a pot and distill the vapors. The resulting discography has been an increasingly manic bunch of catchy melodies soaked in static and distortion, each additional transmission seeming a little poppier, a little more violent.

Blank Dogs still wallows in the defeat of past pessimism, but instead of striking the confrontational stance that dominated previous tracks like “Death Jumpers” and “Pieces,” The Fields just sounds exhausted. “Spinning” starts off with the slow dirge of a death march, but with the drum machine going unchallenged for the entirety of the song, it turns into a mechanical club song. Any sense of spontaneous life is smothered. The head-nodding, foot-tapping hooks and riffs from past efforts were once contorted and challenged through each track. Now, on songs like “Passing the Light,” they’re set on auto-pilot, soldiering on until they run out of gas.
Past releases pitted Joy Division’s bittersweet melodic hooks against Big Black’s snarl. The result was a chaotic, but cathartic, swirling mess. With The Fields, the tension and the terror are gone. There’s no struggle anymore, just a bleak soul unable to stop cranking out pop tunes. “All Photographs” is the final capitulation, a generic Nintendo synth line dominating the most demure throwaway track yet. It seems like this is all Blank Dogs has left, the last hurrah before Mike Sniper’s mask comes off and he unlocks the bedroom door. And with a new full-length destined for In The Red Records, I have to wonder how much more despair can possibly be left to scrape up before he gives up entirely.

DISAPPEARS - GUIDER

After Lux the band from chicago are back with Guider. Six hypnotic tracks for an half-hour blast of howling guitar noise, delay, echo, reverbs and  'pummelling' drums for an obscure-lisergic atmosphere.
Guider  recalls the post-punk bands and the abrasive noise of Sonic Youth.
Personally i liked more their catchy first Album Lux, Guider is not easy to be  hear,  probably it will annoy you.

1. Superstition
2. Not Romantic
3. Halo
4. Guider
5. New Fast

IAN CURTIS

Ian Kevin Curtis (15 July 1956 – 18 May 1980) was the songwriter, lyricist, singer and occasional guitarist of the English post-punk band Joy Division. Joy Division released their debut album Unknown Pleasures in 1979, and recorded their follow-up Closer in 1980. Suffering from epilepsy, a failing marriage, and bouts of depression, Curtis committed suicide in May 1980, on the eve of Joy Division's first North American tour.

In 1976, Curtis met two young musicians, Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook, at a Sex Pistols gig, who told him they were trying to form a band; he immediately put himself forward as a vocalist and lyricist. The three of them recruited and sacked a number of drummers before settling on Stephen Morris as their final member. Initially, the band was called Warsaw before changing its name to Joy Division in 1978, due to conflicts with the name of another band,Warsaw Pakt. The name "Joy Division" stemmed from the sexual slavery wing of a Nazi concentration camp in the 1955 novel The House of Dolls.
Curtis's writing was filled with imagery of emotional isolation, death, alienation, and urban decay. He once commented in an interview that he wrote about "the different ways different people can cope with certain problems, how they might or might not adapt." He sang in a bass-baritone voice, in contrast to his speaking voice, which fell in the tenor range. Earlier in their career, Curtis would sing in a loud snarling voice similar to shouting; it is best displayed on the band's debut EP, An Ideal for Living (1978).
Curtis's last live performance was on 2 May 1980 at Chamberlain Hall of Birmingham University, a show that included Joy Division's first and only performance of the song "Ceremony", later recorded by New Order and released as their first single. The last song Curtis performed on stage was "Digital". The recording of this performance can be found on the Still album.

MONGOL RALLY IS COMING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARE YOU BORED?
DO YOU WANNA TRY SOMETHING NEW?
ARE YOU LOOKIN' FOR ADVENTURE?

MONGOL RALLY'S WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR

WHERE?
Launching from Goodwood UK or the Czech Republic and finishing in Mongolia.

WHEN?
UK: 23rd July 2011, Czech: 25th July.
HOW MUCH?
£714 per team (a team is 1 car or 2 Motorbikes and as many people as you can fit in).

Participating automobiles are allowed to have an engine displacement of no greater than 1200 cc
Motorbikes with an engine displacement of 125 cc or less are also permitted.

The Mongol Rally is a car rally that begins in Europe and ends in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. The principal launch is from Goodwood Circuit, United Kingdom, with subsidiary starting points in other European countries. It is described as the "greatest adventure in the world".

The world has gone soft. Satellite maps and GPS have sucked the juiciness out of exploring and some git has already walked off the edge of all the maps. What if you want things to go wrong. What if you need to escape the hermetically sealed world we live in? Fear not, the solution is here. Take a dump on health & safety - do the Mongol Rally.

10,000 miles of adventuring bliss through deserts, mountains and steppe tackled in a car your Granny would use for shopping. The Mongol Rally is hurling yourself at 1/3 of the Earth's surface in woefully unsuitable vehicles to see what happens.

Imagine yourself completely lost in a massive desert, hundreds of miles from civilisation, driving a car that the laws of physics say should not have got you past the M25 as 3 wheels fall off and a troupe of bandits wander over the horizon. That's when the adventure begins. The Mongol Rally; the world's best generator of chaos.

The Mongol Rally isn't about comfort and it doesn't have a great deal to do with style; what we seek is adventure. The whole point is that it's difficult. So the one litre rule was born. To tackle the worst roads the world can throw at you you need to turn up to the startline in a Granny mobile with an engine size of under 1 litre (ish). There is nothing like staring down the bonnet of a Nissan Micra at hundreds of miles of dirt track and foot high rocks. Or driving for 15 hours and only getting 20km then finding out it was in the wrong direction.
